Match Official Development and LTOD

SOSA currently has five assessors, three instructors, and six mentors in their ranks.

Supporting and helping direct this work is the SOSA Match Officials Development Committee.

In addition to the local work, Ontario Soccer is beginning a new Long Term Officials Development (LTOD) plan. LTOD will provide a standards-based education and development program, through strong leadership, inclusivity and support. All aspects of the Match Official Development Program will be strengthened, as Development Support Team members, Match Officials and the game will benefit from a ground breaking development and training program.

As an important part of the rollout of LTOD, Ontario Soccer hosted a Regional LTOD Information Session in Kingston on March 28, 2017. Ontario Soccer has provided an informational poster, and for more information, please see the Ontario Soccer website. Phil Benevides is the LTOD Regional Champion for this area.

If you see a match official – no matter age, grade, gender, competition level – that shows potential, ambition, or skill, there is now a place to officially report the name and a scout, assignor, leader, mentor, or assessor will be sent out to see the official in action when possible.

If you wish to contact Ontario Soccer, a directory of their staff is available along with their roles.
