Two Gael soccer players invited to National Evaluation Event

KINGSTON, Ont. (August 27, 2015) – Two of the newest members of the Gaels men's soccer team have been invited this weekend to the U-20 Team Canada Evaluation Event.

First year players Andrew Whiteman and Rafael Rodriguez were invited to the national evaluation event taking place this weekend at the Ontario Soccer Association Facility in Vaughan, Ont., Both of these student-athletes were highly recruited and will play for Queen's this upcoming season in the CIS.

Andrew Whiteman,(Trenton, Ont.),is a midfielder for the Kingston Clippers who plays in the League 1 Ontario soccer league. "Honestly, this opportunity means the world to me," said Whiteman about his invitation to the event. "This is the level that we aspire to play at,since we were kids watching on TV., and now to be given the chance to compete against other top athletes in Canada is extremely overwhelming! I can't begin to thank my coaches Christian Hoefler and Chris Eveleigh enough for the work and belief they have put into me, as well as my parents for being my biggest motivators."

Rafael Rodriguez,(Kingston, Ont.),is a defender and a teammate of Whiteman for the Kingston Clippers. "Being invited to this camp means that years of hard work and dedication have really payed off," said Rodriguez about his selection to the evaluation event. "It's the,greatest honour to have the opportunity to compete against other elite athletes from across the country. I would like to thank all the time and belief that my coaches Christian Hoefler and Chris Eveleigh and my parents have put in to me."

The Gaels soccer team open up their OUA schedule this weekend in Ottawa before returning to Kingston for their home openers on September 5th against Toronto.,
